Support with weight management has never been more widely available, and a growing share of it is delivered entirely online. For some people that works well. For others, the experience gradually starts to feel thin: assessments completed by questionnaire, reviews handled by message, no blood testing at any stage, and no clinician who has ever met them in person. If that sounds familiar, you may already be thinking about changing provider.
I am Dima Alomar, a GPhC-registered Clinical Prescriber Pharmacist. I see every patient face to face at our Wimpole Street clinic in the Harley Street medical district, and the transfer pathway described below is the one we use for every patient who joins us from another provider.
One point matters more than any other in this guide: switching to DimAllure is not a separate service, a fast track, or a shortcut. You enter the same weight management programme as every other patient, through the same comprehensive assessment. The pathway below simply describes how that entry works when you arrive with a treatment history already behind you: your previous care is reviewed properly, and nothing is carried over automatically.
Why do people switch weight management providers?
Many of the patients who join us are already partway through a weight management journey with another provider, often an online service. When they describe what prompted the move, the same three things come up again and again: they wanted a clinician who actually sees them in person, they wanted baseline and ongoing blood testing that was never offered, and they wanted a plan for the facial changes they were starting to notice as their weight changed. All three are built into every DimAllure programme.
None of that is an attack on any individual provider. It is simply what continuous medical care should include, and if your current arrangement does not include it, you are entitled to look elsewhere.
What does a safe transfer of care look like?
At DimAllure, transferring your care is straightforward and follows a defined pathway. Each part of it exists to protect you.
Step 1: The same comprehensive consultation as any new patient
There is no separate transfer appointment and no shortened intake. You book the standard comprehensive face-to-face consultation that every new patient receives: a full medical history, independent verification of your BMI, and structured health screening including mental health and eating disorder screening. Within that consultation, I review the care you have already received: what your current programme involves, how long you have been with your provider, and what has and has not worked for you.
Step 2: Sharing your records or a treatment summary
As part of the transfer, we will ask you to share records or a treatment summary from your current provider. What you share gives me an objective picture of your care so far: what was assessed at the outset, what monitoring has taken place, and how your plan has progressed. If your provider has not already given you copies, you can ask them for a summary of your care. And if your records turn out to be incomplete or slow to arrive, your new plan does not depend on them alone, because of the step that follows.
Step 3: A full independent reassessment, including baseline blood tests
Nothing is automatically continued when you join us. I carry out a full independent reassessment, including blood testing and health screening. Your baseline blood panel is arranged through our accredited partner laboratory before any treatment plan is confirmed, so that decisions about your plan are made with as complete a picture as possible. For many patients arriving from online services, this is the first blood testing they have ever been offered as part of their weight management care.
Step 4: An independent clinical decision about your plan
Once your reassessment is complete, I make my own clinical judgement about the right plan for you from this point forward. Continuation of your previous care is a clinical decision made properly, not an automatic transfer, and the same honesty applies in both directions: if a weight management programme is not right for you, I will tell you.
Why is nothing carried over automatically?
It can feel frustrating to be reassessed from the beginning when your journey already feels well underway. I would encourage you to see it differently: a proper reassessment is exactly what a transfer of care should involve. Your health picture, your circumstances and your goals may all have changed since your original assessment, and a plan built on another provider's paperwork is not a plan built on you.
That thoroughness is deliberate. Suitability is always assessed individually at consultation, and our screening process exists to protect you.
What does your care look like after the transfer?
Once your plan is agreed, you are cared for in exactly the same way as every other DimAllure patient. You are reviewed every month, face to face or remotely depending on what your care needs at the time: weight and BMI verification, side effect review, a wellbeing check, and adjustments to your plan where they are needed. This is continuous medical care, not a subscription to a delivery service. You can read more about my clinical background and registration before you book.
What should you prepare before switching?
You do not need to arrive with a perfect file, but a little preparation makes the pathway smoother:
- Your records or a treatment summary. We will ask you to share these, so bring any documents your current provider has given you. If you have none, ask your provider for a summary of your care before your appointment.
- Key dates. When your care started, when your last review took place, and when your current arrangement ends or renews.
- A note of what has been missing. Whether that is in-person contact, blood testing, or simply feeling heard, it helps me understand what good care needs to look like for you.
- Your questions. Ask anything about the programme and its terms before you commit.
Do you need permission from your current provider?
No. The decision to change provider is always yours, and you do not need anyone's approval to book a consultation. What makes the change safe is the pathway above: your treatment history shared and reviewed, and a full independent reassessment before any plan is agreed. If you are weighing up whether a move is right for you, or would like to talk it through first, you are welcome to contact the clinic with your questions.
A safer front door to the same programme
If you take one idea away from this guide, let it be this: at DimAllure, switching providers is not a separate offer. Every patient who joins us, whether at the very start of a journey or partway through one, receives the same assessment, the same monitoring and the same honest clinical judgement. The transfer pathway is designed so that nothing about your previous care is simply assumed along the way, and so that your new plan is built on a proper, independent assessment of you as you are now.
